REPORT ON A TWO DAYS NATIONAL LEVEL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE ON

FUTURE MATERIALS AND ITS APPLICATIONS

On 5 th October 2021, A National level virtual conference on “FUTURE MATERIALS

AND ITS APPLICATION” was organized by PG & Research department of Physics and PG

Department of Chemistry, Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women, Vaniyambadi. The

program started with a prayer song. The welcome address was given by Ms.V.K.Nagiha Suman

I PG Chemistry. Next the felicitation was given by Dr.M. Inbavalli, Principal, MKJC,

Vaniyambadi. Dr.M. Charumathy, Head, PG Department of Chemistry had introduced the chief

guest Dr .W. MADHURI ,Associate Professor ,Centre for Functional Materials school of

Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institution of Technology, Vellore explained widely about Hybrid

Microwave sintering of ceramics for Electrical Applications on session- 1 and on session -2 by

afternoon, Dr. AKELLA SIVARAMAKRISHNA Professor, Department of Chemistry,

school of Advanced sciences, Vellore Institution of Technology, Vellore explained about

“Chemistry and application of Organometallic Group 10 (Ni, Pd, and Pt) Metal Complexes- its

just beyond the expectations and it was very helpful to our students to solve problems in future

competitive exams. To the part of second day of the conference held on 07.10.2021 Dr.

D.ZARENA Assistant professor, Department of Physics Jawaharlal Nehru Technological

University ,Anantapuram, Andhra Pradesh explained keenly about structural studies of some

interesting peptides and it was very interesting and facts about peptides are conceivable. Finally

Ms. T. Gayathri Devi I M.Sc , PG Department of Chemistry, delivered vote of thanks.

Ira Remsen developed the first artificial sweetener.

  A former president of Johns Hopkins University, Remsen is credited with the  discovery of the popular artificial sweetener known as saccharin. Today, saccharin is  widely used in the U.S., sweetening everything from diet soft drinks to toothpaste. Remsen first synthesized the substance in 1878 while working with his postdoctoral colleague, Constantine Fahlberg.  As the story goes , Remsen was uninterested in the practical application of saccharin, but Fahlberg was eager to capitalize on the commercial potential and rushed to obtain a patent for saccharin. Fahlberg then attempted to take all the credit for the discovery, a move that didn't sit too well with his colleague.
